Netsmart First ONC-Certified EHR for Palliative Care; myEvolv & Essentia EHRs Receive ONC Health IT Certification
Overland Park, KS. (April 23, 2018) – Netsmart today announced it has received the first ONC-Health IT 2015 Edition Certified solution specifically for palliative care. The palliative care solution within the myUnity™ platform is powered by myAvatar®. Netsmart also announced that it has earned two Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC-Health IT) 2015 Edition Health IT Module certifications from Drummond Group, an Authorized Certification Body (ACB) that has been empowered to test software for compliance with the requirements of the federal government’s program.
Palliative care is getting increased attention as health systems and payors are developing strategies for value-based care, and establishing compliance with the Medicare Access and CHIPS Reauthorization ACT (MACRA), specifically Medicare Incentive Payment System (MIPS). Under the quality payment program, palliative care organizations that bill Medicare more than $30,000 a year and have more than 100 beneficiaries are required to comply with the regulations.
“The palliative care market is in a unique situation, requiring clinicians above the minimum threshold to comply with the quality payment program,” said Netsmart CEO Mike Valentine. “To avoid a Medicare payment adjustment, health care providers must use an EHR that is certified specifically for the EHR incentive programs. The capacity to electronically share accurate and updated patient health data and closely monitor clinical quality measures, quickly and easily, is critical to their success.”

The need for this solution is tremendous.”
The ONC-Health IT stamp of approval from Drummond Group designates that Netsmart’s software offers the functionality that enables eligible providers and hospitals to meet meaningful use requirements, qualifying these organizations to receive payments under the ongoing electronic health record (EHR) adoption program.
myEvolv and Essentia are the latest Netsmart EHRs that have met the requirements to achieve the ONC-Health IT 2015 Edition Health IT Module Certifications. The Netsmart EHR, myAvatar™, received ONC-Health IT certification last year and was the first behavioral health EHR to receive the certification.
Essentia and myEvolv serve behavioral health and addiction treatment organizations, community health centers, and agencies for child, family, and social services.
