Youth Villages Intercept Program Linked To Lower Out-Of-Home Placement Rate
The Youth Villages’ Intercept® Program (Intercept), which provides intensive in-home services, is linked to a lower likelihood of out-of-home placement for youth (aged 12 to 17 years) with serious emotional and behavioral problems. Among children referred to Intercept, the average treatment effect showed 53% lower odds of out-of-home placement than the children in the comparison group, with a substantially larger impact during the six months following the start of an child protective services investigation, according to an analysis commissioned by the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services (DCS).
