Virginia Lawmakers Approve Medicaid Expansion
On June 7, 2018, Virginia Governor Ralph Northam signed budget bills for fiscal years 2019 and 2020 that include a provision to expand Medicaid to approximately 400,000 Virginia adults. The Medicaid expansion will require cost sharing and includes a requirement that some individuals participate in work or other community engagement activities. The new coverage is slated to start January 1, 2019.
