Louisiana To Eliminate Low-Income Medicaid Long-Term Care Program
The Louisiana governor’s budget proposes eliminating the state’s long-term care (LTC) special income level program. If enacted as proposed, on July 1, 2018, about 60,000 elderly or disabled participants would no longer be eligible for Medicaid benefits, including 16,500 who are residents of long-term care facilities, and about 14,000 who receive home personal care assistance. As a precaution, the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) has issued warning notices to the potentially affected individuals. However, as of April 11, 2018, the state’s budget has not yet been finalized.
