Kansas Medicaid MCOs Report Combined Losses Of $52 Million In 2014

During 2014, the three Kansas Medicaid KanCare managed care organizations (MCOs)—Amerigroup, Sunflower Health Plan and UnitedHealthcare—lost about $52 million according to documents provided to the Kansas legislature in April 2015. During calendar year 2014, the state paid the KanCare MCOs more than $2.5 billion. During 2013, the state paid the KanCare MCOs about $2.3 billion; the MCOs lost about $116 million.
