The Iowa Department of Human Services (DHS) is planning to move nearly all Medicaid populations and services to managed care plans by January 1, 2016. The initiative will eliminate the state’s behavioral health carve-out managed care contract with Magellan of Iowa.  DHS released a request for proposals (RFP) on February 16, 2015 that outlines its plans and the timeline. DHS intends to contract on a statewide basis with two to four Medicaid managed care organizations (MCOs) to provide services for the Iowa Medicaid, Iowa Health and Wellness Plan, and Healthy and Well Kids in Iowa hawk-i programs . . .
