Six new codes for digital health services are included in the American Medical Association (AMA) updates for the 2020 Current Procedural Terminology (CPT®) code set. The new codes allow health care professionals to report electronic interactions with consumers via online digital evaluation services in real time, or asynchronously through consumer portal messaging tools. Three codes are for consumer-initiated digital communications provided by physicians or other qualified health professionals—codes 99421, 99422, and 99423.
