Adults Aged 50-59 Now Largest Age Group In New York City Opioid Treatment Programs

Of the 34,270 New York City residents who received opioid addiction treatment in 2012, 35.9% (12,301 adults) were between ages 50 and 59. The 50 to 59 age group represented the largest share of those in treatment. Of the remaining city residents who received opioid addiction treatment, 20.5% were between ages 18 and 39; 30% were between ages 40 to 49; 12.0% were ages 60 to 69; and 1.1% were age 70 or older.
