29 States Increased Mental Health Budgets In 2014

In 2014, 29 states and the District of Columbia increased state general funding for the mental health services, which is fewer than the 36 states that increased funding in 2013. Additionally, 10 states decreased their general funding for mental health and 12 states kept their budgets at the same level as 2013. State budgets for mental health services are used by state mental health authorities to provide inpatient or outpatient behavioral health services for uninsured (and some under-insured) people.
