What Are State Innovation Model Grants & How Are They Reshaping Care Delivery?
State Medicaid programs have gone through a lot of changes in the past five years or so, and many are continuing to see big changes. State Innovation Model (SIM) grants, which are provided by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS), are just one of the factors driving this rapid change. SIM grants are federal grants awarded via cooperative agreement (giving the federal government a high level of project oversight) to state governments to test new health care payment and service delivery models across multiple payers (but specifically Medicare, Medicaid, and CHIP).
