CMS Lifts Sanctions, Clears Cigna To Resume Selling Medicare Plans
As of July 1, 2017, Cigna is cleared to begin selling Medicare products. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has lifted their January 2016 sanctions that were placed on the company due to regulations violations that posed serious threat to enrollees' health and safety.
The sanctions were lifted after Cigna collaborated with CMS to improve processes and technology for their Medicare program. Cigna will be able to participate in the fall, 2017 enrollment period for 2018 plans.
