BCBS Ohio Partners With Propeller Health To Reduce COPD Costs Using Digital Inhalers
Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Ohio (BCBS) recently announced it is partnering with digital health startup Propeller Health (Propeller) to reduce chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) costs using digital inhalers. COPD is a chronic inflammatory lung disease that causes obstructed airflow from the lungs, and can lead to symptoms such as breathing difficulty and cough.
COPD—which effects about 16 million Americans—is expected to have its care related costs reach $49 billion annually by 2020, making the new partnership between BCBS Ohio and Propeller a timely one. BCBS Ohio hopes these costs can be reduced by having consumers . . .
