Biography

Wendy Kidd, M.A., L.P.C. brings more than twenty years of experience in behavioral health, including management, utilization management, training, and direct clinical work to OPEN MINDS and its clients. She began her work with OPEN MINDS as a Senior Consultant.  Ms. Kidd was most recently the Director of Utilization Management for Behavioral Healthcare, Inc. (BHI), a Medicaid behavioral health organization (BHO) in the State of Colorado.  Prior to her work with BHI, Ms. Kidd was Director of Utilization Management for another BHO, Foothills Behavioral Health.

Ms. Kidd started her career in Oklahoma as a behavioral health professional. In 1998, she joined the faculty of Oklahoma State University as an adjunct instructor, teaching in the chemical dependency counseling program.  In addition to this faculty role, Ms. Kidd was a Review Coordinator/Provider Trainer for the Medicaid Prior Authorization Program at the Oklahoma Foundation for Medical Quality.  Ms. Kidd was Program Director for the Dual Diagnosis (Mental Illness/Substance Abuse) Program at Red Rock Mental Health Center in Oklahoma City.

After moving to Colorado in 2000, she became the Director of Utilization Management for Jefferson Center for Mental Health, a not-for-profit community mental health center serving three counties in Colorado.

Ms. Kidd received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma and her Master of Arts in Christian Counseling from Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma.   She is a licensed counselor in the State of Colorado. Ms. Kidd is currently at work on a second Master’s degree.
