Thomas “Tom” Nuttle, MBA, FACHE, brings a wealth of experience in practice management, network administration, organizational leadership, and physician relations to the OPEN MINDS team. Prior to joining OPEN MINDS, he was the Vice President for Cardiac Service within Buffalo, New York’s Catholic Health System directing operations in a four-hospital integrated health delivery system. Thomas was previously the director of a regional provider network focused on long-term care and was responsible for the recruitment of skilled nursing facilities for the network. Mr. Nuttle is also a fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).
In his role as vice president for Cardiac Care at the Catholic Hospital System, Mr. Nuttle grew the open-heart surgical program by over $3.5 million per annum, while establishing the program as a “BCBS Cardiac Center of Distinction”. He also created and implemented first-ever closed unit program at Mercy Hospital resulting in a 20% increase in patient satisfaction levels and 80% increase in nurse satisfaction levels, while improving system retention rate by 5% by reducing out of system transfers.
As the manager of delivery system strategies at Excellus Health Plan (Univera Healthcare) in Buffalo, New York, he directed a cross-regional team for physician payment strategy, designed pay for performance reimbursement models, and successfully directed the management and expansion of a Panel Model Risk and Reward Program.
Thomas received his Master’s in Healthcare Administration from the State University of New York at Buffalo, New York, and a Bachelor’s of Science in Finance from Canisius College, Buffalo, New York.
