David Forbes brings over 25 years of marketing experience to the OPEN MINDS team. Serving as Vice President, Mr. Forbes expertise includes branding, media, advertising and communications.
Before joining OPEN MINDS, Mr. Forbes served as the Manager of Internal Communications with WellSpan Health in York, Pennsylvania. In this role, he was responsible for communicating time-critical details to stakeholders about WellSpan Health’s electronic health recordkeeping system conversion. Mr. Forbes was responsible for communication planning and execution for five hospitals, 140 office locations, 1,100 physicians, and more than 15,000 employees. Mr. Forbes later assumed the role of manager of internal communications for the entire health system.
Previously, Mr. Forbes worked as the Director of Communication for the Unisys Corporation in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He led communications for the State of Pennsylvania’s statewide Pennsylvania Compute Services (PACS) project. Under the contract, Unisys consolidated seven separate data centers into a secure hybrid cloud, serving more than 51 state agencies, boards, and commissions. In this ten-year, $200 million contract, Mr. Forbes worked with the internal marketing team to create a cohesive brand identity for the PACS project and communicated both brand messaging and highly technical communications to internal and external stakeholders.
Prior to the work with Unisys, Mr. Forbes was the Vice President of Marketing for Belco Community Credit Union and with Waypoint Bank, where he served as Vice President, Marketing, Product Manager, and E-Commerce Manager. In these roles, he led initiatives to rename and rebrand several financial institutions and grow the customer base. He also was part of operations and marketing communications teams responsible for more than 15 competitor acquisitions, the largest of which resulted in a $5.5 billion regional bank with more than 200,000 customers.
Mr. Forbes attended Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh and Penn State University in State College, where he graduated with a degree in English Writing. An avid reader and writer, he has published three novels with HarperCollins.
