Gettysburg, Pa. (November 4, 2018) — On October 19, OPEN MINDS announced the launch of its new learning collaborative, “The OPEN MINDS Strategic Sustainability Learning Collaborative.” The learning collaborative is a twelve-month guided process for executives of small health and human service organizations. Starting on February 1, 2019, executives will learn how best to assess their current and future sustainability, create a ‘best practice’ model strategic plan, and develop a customized tool kit for successful strategy implementation and organizational transformation over the twelve month period.
OPEN MINDS recognizes that in the current human services landscape, managed care and alternative payment models are redefining the optimal provider organization size, driving M&A and other affiliations, and disrupting the market. In response, OPEN MINDS has developed the Strategic Sustainability Learning Collaborative specifically to support small to medium size specialty providers. The Learning Collaborative will be led by Paul Neitman, OPEN MINDS Senior Associate with over 25 years of human services leadership experience.
“The environmental changes that have occurred and continue to occur have challenged the very existence of many smaller human service organizations and put others in a precarious financial position,” Mr. Neitman notes. “And, while all health and human service organizations have been impacted, small-to-medium size organizations (those with $25 million or less in annual revenue), have been left especially vulnerable.”
The OPEN MINDS Learning Collaborative offers these organizations affordable access to OPEN MINDS market intelligence, and guidance and direction from OPEN MINDS Subject Matter Experts to develop the organizational competencies and planning required to remain sustainable in this ever-changing health and behavioral healthcare market.

The Strategic Sustainability Learning Collaborative will utilize a multi-faceted learning approach which will include:
- Quarterly, pre-recorded web briefings that allows participants to access presentations that best fit their schedule
- Bi-weekly newsletters that discuss web briefings in greater detail or focus on selected case studies
- Monthly, one-on-one telephone consultations with each member to address questions on specific organizational issues
- Quarterly participant forums that allow for group discussion in the predetermined content areas
- Participant networking summit in conjunction with an OPEN MINDS Institute
The Learning Collaborate Summit will summarize the year-long program and allow participants to share their plans for organizational sustainability. The Summit will be held in conjunction with an OPEN MINDS Institute where Learning Collaborative participants will have the opportunity to hear from and network with fellow executives from across the country.
The Strategic Sustainability Learning Collaborative participation fee is $6,000 ($500/month) for OPEN MINDS Elite Members and $9,000 ($750/month) for non-members. These costs include registration at the OPEN MINDS Institute as a part of the Summit. Participants will be responsible for related travel and lodging costs to the Summit and Institute. Registration will occur from November 10, 2018 thru January 22, 2019, with enrollment limited to 30 participants. The Learning Collaborative will begin February 1, 2019. Neitman, LMSW, OPEN MINDS Senior Associate, has over thirty-five years of human services experience, with over twenty-five years of senior and executive leadership experience for a large, state-wide children’s services organization.
