GETTYSBURG, Pa. (March 29, 2020) – OPEN MINDS will host an executive seminar for specialty health care provider organizations: Aligning Your Board To The New Sustainability Challenge: An OPEN MINDS Seminar On Non-Profit Management, on August 25, 2020 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm PST at The OPEN MINDS Management Best Practices Institute. The Institute will be held at the Newport Beach Marriott in Newport Beach, California, August 25 -27, 2020.
As the health care industry faces extreme disruption in the wake of COVID-19, board members and executives must work together to understand the changing market and map a plan for recovery and resilience. This timely seminar will focus on:
- How the disruption in the health and human service market is creating new challenges and opportunities for non-profit providers
- The changing role of the board in a time of recovery
- Opportunities for special stimulus funding in a recession
The seminar will be jointly hosted by OPEN MINDS Senior Associates George Braunstein, FACHE and Anthony Zipple Sc.D., MBA.
“An effective board is vital for a strong organizational performance and will require the ongoing commitment of all board members to actively participate in their governance role,” says George Braunstein, Senior Associate at OPEN MINDS. “A strong, well performing CEO needs an effective board as a partner to ensure continuing strong performance. The CEO and senior management staff can support an effective board by keeping them well informed and respecting their governance role.”
“A strong and effective board is a CEO’s best friend,” says Anthony Zipple. “We used to take sustainability for health care organizations for granted. That is certainly not the case today. Success requires great management and equally great governance working closely together. If organizations want to flourish today and continue to do great work in the future, the board and CEO need to be fully aligned on vision and strategic goals, and the path ahead. Active partnership between the board and senior management is a requirement for strong organizations.”
Mr. Braunstein has 40 years of experience in the health and human service industry, leading both private and public organizations – in institutional and ambulatory settings. Prior to joining OPEN MINDS, Mr. Braunstein served as Executive Director of the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board (CSB) in Fairfax, Virginia. He developed the organization’s first fully integrated service model combining mental health, substance use treatment, and primary care services.
Anthony M. Zipple, Sc.D., MBA, has 40 years of experience in the health and human industry, leading rehabilitation and community behavioral health services. Prior to joining OPEN MINDS, Dr. Zipple served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Centerstone of Kentucky, in Louisville, Kentucky.
