500+ Executives Convene For OPEN MINDS Week-Long Institute Focused On Emerging Innovations & Strategic Science In Today’s Value-Based Environment

GETTYSBURG, Pa. (June 10, 2018) — After expanding the event into a week-long series consisting of several seminars, workshops, and The 2018 I/DD Executive Summit, OPEN MINDS wrapped up its 2018 OPEN MINDS Strategy & Innovation Institute in New Orleans, Louisiana on Thursday. This year’s event featured a sold-out two-day core program on the emerging innovations disrupting the market and the strategic science behind making them work in today’s value-based environment.

Over 500 health and human service executives joined OPEN MINDS for “Strategy and Innovation Week.” Speakers at the event included:

The week kicked off with The 2018 I/DD Executive Summit. This full day event was designed for executives leading organizations that serve individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, leading OPEN MINDS and CapGrow partners to collaboratively host over 200 executives and 11 innovative exhibitors. This year’s curriculum focused on the strategic challenges posed by shifting Medicaid policies for financing I/DD – and new reimbursement models for I/DD support services. OPEN MINDS and CapGrow partners were proud to host the event. The event started with a networking breakfast, and included a “Refresh and Recharge” break, sponosred by Therap Services; lunch, sponsored by Ukeru; and a networking reception, Arlington Heritage Group, Inc. The first seminar of the week, Finding The Path To Online Marketing Success: An OPEN MINDS Executive Seminar On Best Practices In Website & Social Media Marketing, led by Tim Snyder, Vice President of Marketing, OPEN MINDS, walked attendees through designing a successful marketing plan based on their organization’s strategic goals. The seminar focused on three key topics:

This year’s Institute featured the first ever Roundtable Discussion, which was exclusive to a smaller group of attendees, with a limited registration passes available. The discussion, Do You Need A New Look? A Roundtable Discussion On Re-Branding Your Organization, also led by Tim Snyder, Vice President of Marketing, OPEN MINDS and Kristi Hamilton, Senior Associate, OPEN MINDS. During the discussion, Mr. Snyder and Ms. Hamilton pushed attendees to brainstorm about rebranding and focus on next steps for their organization.

Chief Executive Officer, Monica E. Oss brought The 2018 OPEN MINDS Strategy & Innovation Institute to a close with her closing keynote address, Incorporating Innovation Into Everyday Operations: A New Strategy For Sustainability. While reviewing highlights from the past week’s events, summarizing the key takeaways from the Institute, she also discussed the innovation challenge for specialty provider organizations.

To wrap up the week, Joe Naughton –Travers, Senior Associate, OPEN MINDS led the seminar, Best Practice Service Line Development: An OPEN MINDS Seminar On New Service Line, Design, Development, & Launch. This seminar focused on key executive team practices for success in a changing market. The seminar topics included:

  • Assessing and selecting which new services to develop
  • An overview of a best practice process for new service line design and development
  • Conducting a feasibility analyses of new service line and using target costing to set new service line rates
  • Executing the plan to develop a new service
  • Putting best practices in action – a new service line launch case

Next up in the OPEN MINDS executive education series is The 2018 OPEN MINDS Management Best Practices Institute, the only health and human service event focused around the emerging clinical and management best practices needed for organizational sustainability, in value-based reimbursement arrangements. The faculty and guest speakers for the event will consist of executives who have demonstrated experience making best practices an asset in developing next generation business models and sustainable strategies.
