450+ Executives From Over 250 Organizations Gathered In New Orleans For The 2019 OPEN MINDS Strategy & Innovation Institute

GETTYSBURG, Pa. (June 9, 2019) — Over 450 health and human service executives, representing over 250 organizations, met in New Orleans, Louisiana this past week for The 2019 OPEN MINDS Strategy & Innovation Institute, a week-long event focused on the strategy, service line development, and innovation management tools executive teams need to move their organization from the concept of value-based reimbursement to success in the new financial normal.

The week was set in motion with the third annual The I/DD Executive Summit. The 2019 I/DD Executive Summit was designed to give executive teams the strategic tools they need to build sustainable organizations in a value-based world. This year, the Summit was focused on helping organizations build a business model focused on improving performance outcomes, preserving consumer self-direction, and exploring new partnerships across the care continuum. The week also began with a timely seminar, Succeeding With Value-Based Reimbursement: An OPEN MINDS Executive Seminar On Organizational Competencies & Management Best Practices For Value-Based Contracting. The seminar was led by Ken Carr, Senior Associate, OPEN MINDS and focused on helping organizations ensure their teams are prepared for value-based contracting and have all the required competencies needed for success.

On Tuesday, June 4th, James Craig, LCSW, MBA, Vice President, Corporate Clinical- Autism Solutions, Beacon Health Options kicked- off the main event with his anticipated plenary address: Opportunity & Innovation In The Autism Market: The Beacon Health Options Strategy. Wednesday’s program was opened by Lynda Zeller, Senior Behavioral Health Fellow, Michigan Health Endowment Fund. Ms. Zeller’s plenary address, Harnessing The Power Of Analytics To Create Innovative Solutions For Complex Consumers, reviewed the big policy changes and industry trends shaping the market and discussed how provider organizations can utilize data analytics to build meaningful strategies and operational practices. The Institute’s agenda was filled with insightful breakout sessions including case studies presentations and panel discussions. Wrapping up the institute on Wednesday, June 5th, OPEN MINDS Chief Executive Officer, Monica E. Oss presented her keynote address, What Does It Take To Outlast The Disruptors? Building A New Strategy For A New Market. Her closing keynote address provided attendees with her perspective on the current state of the market for organizations serving complex consumer populations she shared her advice for provider organizations as they navigate the market challenges and what she sees as the future of innovation in the health and human service market.

Following the institute on Wednesday, June 5th, Ray Wolfe, J.D., Senior Associate, OPEN MINDS closed out the day with his seminar, How To Develop A Strategic Plan: An OPEN MINDS Executive Seminar On Best Practices In Strategy, Portfolio Management, & Scenario-Based Planning.

The week ended on Thursday, June 6th, with The OPEN MINDS Consumer Engagement Technologies Summit. Christopher Williams, MA, Senior Associate, OPEN MINDS led the summit, and discussed the emerging trends in consumer treatment technologies and how executives of provider organizations can incorporate new technologies into their strategy.
