The Affordable Care Act. Medicaid reform efforts and other health care initiatives have impacted all segments of health and human services, including traditional children’s service organizations in the child welfare, mental health, and juvenile justice systems. These initiatives to improve overall health and reduce the cost of care for broad populations through the integration of physical and behavioral health and care coordination interventions, have begun to focus on children served by various publicly funded systems and require a whole host of new collaborations and organizational competencies in order to meet the changing needs of clients and funders.
