CMS Section 1135 Waiver Flexibilities – South Dakota Coronavirus Disease 2019
On March 24, 2020, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services approved the state of South Dakota’s request for a federal Section 1135 waiver to waive certain Medicaid requirements during the national public health emergency declared on March 13, 2020 due to coronavirus. The state’s request outlined requirements that pose issues or challenges for the health care delivery system in all counties in South Dakota and requested a waiver or modification of those requirements.
