California SB 1391 Juveniles: Fitness For Juvenile Court

The law was signed on September 30, 2018. It prevents district attorneys from transferring juvenile offenders ages 14 or 15 from juvenile court to a court of criminal jurisdiction in a case in which a minor is alleged to have committed a serious offense. SB 1391 repeals a law enacted in 2016 that allowed district attorneys to transfer youth under age 16 to the adult criminal court system in the case of serious offenses . . .
