Non-Confidential Public Report of Alaska Psychiatric Institute Investigation
The report was released on September 7, 2018, by the Alaska Attorney General. The report presents the findings of an investigation of working conditions at the Alaska Psychiatric Institute (API). The investigator interviewed 46 people associated with API between March 26 and June 19, 2018. The author found that the facility had unsafe working conditions and that facility administrators retaliated against workers who complained about the working conditions. The unsafe conditions were linked to insufficient staffing, ineffective scheduling practices, use of on-call personnel, lack of programming, and lack of consequences for violent individuals being treated at the facility.
