Notice Of Observation & Implication For Care Eligibility Act, Of 2015
This legislation became law on August 6, 2015. The Notice of Observation Treatment and Implication for Care Eligibility Act of 2015, or the NOTICE Act, requires hospitals and critical access hospitals to give oral and written notification called the “Medicare Outpatient Observation Notice” (MOON) to every Medicare beneficiary who receives outpatient observation services for more than 24 hours. The NOTICE Act went into effect on August 6, 2016, and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) plans to implement it on October 1, 2016.
