Ohio House Bill 185 Amendment, To Allow Contracts With Private Prisons
On March 21, 2017, the Ohio 131st General Assembly released this House Bill 185 amendment to allow contracts with private prisons. The bill modifies a preexisting statute governing the Department of Rehabilitation and Correction or a political subdivision contracting for the private operation and management of correctional facilities to:
- Expand the types of facilities that may be the subject of such a contract;
- Authorize the use of the facility for out-of-state prisoners in certain circumstances; and
- With respect to a contract entered into by the Department, consider the facility as if it . . .
