Youth Hospitalizations For Opioid Poisoning Rose 165% From 1997-2012
Between 1997 and 2012, the number of children and adolescents in the United States who were hospitalized for opioid poisoning rose by 165%. In 1997, the annual incidence was 1.40 per 100,000 children ages 1-19; in 2012, the incidence was 3.71 per 100,000.
