Two Wisconsin Nursing Homes Closing, Both Cite Low Medicaid Reimbursement Rates As Key Problem
In March 2018, two Wisconsin nursing homes informed the state that they planned to close, which would lead to employee layoffs; and both organizations said Medicaid reimbursement rates below cost were a key problem. Layoff notices (Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act of 1988 notices) were submitted to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) by Care & Rehab-Dallas in Dallas, Wisconsin; and by Syverson Rehabilitation and Health (Sylverson) in Eau Claire. The facilities have up to 120 days to transition all current residents to other facilities; Care & Rehab Dallas has 30 residents, and Syverson has 47 residents . . .
