Washington To Be First State With A Long-Term Care Benefit
Washington State is preparing to establish the first state-run, long-term care insurance benefit program in the United States. The program was proposed in House Bill (HB) 1087, the “Long-Term Care Trust Act”, which was passed by the legislature on April 25, 2019, and sent to the Governor for signature; as of May 10th it was still waiting for action by the governor. The goal is to create an employee-paid program to help offset the costs of long-term care.
