Virtual Interviewer Helps Veterans Disclose Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
A virtual interviewer in the form of a computer-generated avatar has proven to help veterans disclose post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The lack of perceived stigma or discrimination from a virtual interviewer helps with disclosure.
These findings were reported in "Reporting Mental Health Symptoms: Breaking Down Barriers to Care with Virtual Human Interviewers" by Gale M. Lucas, Albert Rizzo, Jonathan Gratch, Stefan Scherer, Giota Stratou, Jill Boberg, and Louis-Philippe Morency. Researchers conducted two studies:
