Virginia Launching New Crisis Prevention Program For Youth With Developmental Disabilities

The Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) is launching new crisis prevention services in northern Virginia for youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) up to age 18. The crisis services, out-of-home services, and emergency residential options will become part of a continuum of services to be available within four hours of request. These services will be accessed through the Regional Educational Assessment Crisis Services and Habilitation (REACH) Children’s crisis programs and serve as alternate residential options if in-home or other crisis services are unable to prevent the crisis.
