VA Launches Community-Based Employment Service For Veterans At-Risk For Homelessness
On June 10, 2015, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) launched a new program to provide community-based employment services for job-ready veterans exiting homelessness and those at risk of homelessness. The program, called Homeless Veteran Community Employment Services (HVCES), embeds a community employment coordinator (CEC) at each VA Medical Center (VAMC). The CEC works with local employers, local workforce development organizations, and existing VA employment programs to develop suitable jobs based on a participant veteran’s skills and abilities.
