Utah Bans Conversion Therapy
On January 22, 2020, the Utah Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing (DOPL) banned psychologists from practicing sexual orientation conversion therapy for minors. Conversion therapy includes mental or behavioral health interventions intended to alter gender identity or sexual orientation. The few studies reporting outcomes for youth conversion therapy found no evidence that the therapy actually changed same-gender sexual orientation to heterosexual or resulted in gender conformity.
