USPSTF Recommends Primary Care Screening Of Women For Partner Violence
The United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommended that primary care professionals screen women of reproductive age for intimate partner violence (IPV) and refer those who screen positive to ongoing support services. The evidence is sufficiently strong to suggest that IPV screening in primary care for women of reproductive age and referral to support services has moderate to net benefit. There is adequate evidence that available screening instruments can identify IPV in women.
Several screening instruments can be used to screen women for IPV. The following instruments accurately detect IPV in the past year among adult women:
