USPSTF Recommends PCPs Assure Behavioral Health Interventions For Pregnant Women At Risk Of Perinatal Depression
The United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommended that primary care physicians (PCPs) either provide, or refer, behavioral health interventions to pregnant women who are at risk of perinatal depression. These interventions include cognitive behavioral therapy counseling, and interpersonal therapy counseling.
The recommendations were reported in "Interventions To Prevent Perinatal Depression; US Preventive Services Task Force Recommendation Statement" by the USPSTF. The USPSTF reviewed the evidence on the benefits and harms of preventive interventions for perinatal depression in pregnant or postpartum women.
