1,500 Unaccompanied Child Immigrants Moved To Texas Temporary Shelter Run By Baptist Child & Family
At the end of September 2018, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) moved 1,500 unaccompanied alien children to a temporary 3,800-bed shelter at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Tornillo, Texas Land Port of Entry (LPOE) near El Paso. The care and services for the children housed at the Tornillo shelter which has 3,800 beds are provided by Baptist Child & Family Services (BCFS), under a contract with the HHS Administration for Children and Families (ACF).
