On May 11, 2018, the federal Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) finalized a rule, effective June 11, 2018, that allows VA health care professionals to provide telehealth services to veterans anywhere in the United States. However, the rule only applies to VA-employed health care professionals; it does not apply to VA contract physicians. Through this rule, the VA intends to ensure that VA health care professionals are able to offer the care, irrespective of the state or location in a state of the VA health care provider or the beneficiary.
