Alzheimer’s Disease Prevalence To Double By 2040
As of 2017, an estimated 5.5 million Americans have Alzheimer’s disease; by 2040 this is projected to increase to 11.6 million Americans. By 2019, nearly 15 million people are projected to have mild cognitive impairment, which is considered early-stage Alzheimer's disease. Demand for treatment may be even higher. Another estimate reports that in 2017 nearly 6.1 million Americans had either clinical Alzheimer’s disease or mild cognitive impairment due to Alzheimer’s disease. By 2060, an estimated 15 million will be living with cognitive impairment due to Alzheimer’s disease.
