Care Costs For A Person With Dementia Over 5 Years Is $322,000; More Than Twice That For A Person Without Dementia
The total average cost to care for consumer with dementia diagnosed at age 83 is estimated at $321,780 over approximately five years post diagnosis, compared to an average cost of $137,280 to care for the same consumer without dementia. Families cover an estimated 70% of the additional costs due to dementia out-of-pocket, totaling about $225,140.
