Texas Streamlines Policies For Child Maltreatment Investigations
On February 15, 2015, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) Child Protective Services (CPS) implemented new streamlined policies for child maltreatment investigations and family-based safety services. The new system is based on implementing a structured decision making (SDM) process and risk assessments.
To streamline child maltreatment investigations, CPS simplified or eliminated burdensome or duplicative policies and procedures, with the goal of reducing caseloads and decreasing delays during investigations.
