Tennessee Launches School Voucher Program For Students With Disabilities
On August 1, 2016, the Tennessee State Board of Education launched applications for a school voucher program for students with disabilities. The program is called the Individualized Education Account (IEA). It allows parents of eligible students with disabilities to use public education funds of up to $6,300 to pay tuition at participating private schools. There is no cap on the number of participants. The first IEAs will be awarded in January 2017.
The IEA is for students in kindergarten through 12th grade who have been enrolled in a Tennessee public school for at least two semesters preceding the request . . .
