Tennessee Governor Proposes Alternative Medicaid Expansion Plan
On December 15, 2014, Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam released a proposal for Insure Tennessee, an alternative Medicaid expansion plan. If the proposal is adopted by the legislature, more than 200,000 uninsured, low-income working age adults who do not otherwise qualify for Medicaid will be able to obtain health insurance via two coverage options. The two options in the, “Insure Tennessee” proposal include the Volunteer Plan, which provides premium assistance for individuals to pay for coverage offered by their employers, and the Healthy Incentives Plan, which will operate through the existing TennCare Medicaid managed care program, providing health savings . . .
