Telemedicine Could Save U.S. Employers $6 Billion Annually If Percentage Of Employers Offering Health Plans That Cover Telehealth Increases To 37%
Telemedicine could save U.S. companies $6 billion annually if all employees and their dependents replaced face-to-face non-emergency health care services with telemedicine services. The percentage of employers offering health plans that include reimbursement for telemedicine is expected to rise from 22% in 2014 to 37% in 2015.
The findings were reported by global analytics firm Towers Watson, and was based on an analysis of its 2014 Health Care Changes Ahead Survey.
