Number Of Americans Serving As Informal Caregivers Rose 22% From 2015 To 2020
The number of informal, unpaid caregivers for children or adults with disabilities rose by 22%, from 43.5 million in 2015 to 53 million in 2020. In 2015, about 18.2% of adults said they provided unpaid, informal care to a family member or friend of any age with some illness, disability, or other issue that required care. In 2020, about 21.3% of adults said they were informal caregivers, and approximately 24% of caregivers of adults say they are caring for more than one person.
In 2020, caregivers of adults provide an average of about 24 hours of care . . .
