Seven Hospital Systems Join To Create Civica Rx, A Generic Pharmaceutical Manufacturer

On September 6, 2018, a coalition of seven hospital systems announced the launch of Civica Rx, a non-profit generic drug company. Civica Rx will initially focus on 14 hospital-administered generic drugs. Although the drug pipeline has not yet been released, the first products are expected to be available in early 2019. Civica Rx also intends to provide generic medications to the retail market. Civica Rx has submitted an application for manufacturing approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA); a meeting was scheduled for mid-September 2018.
