San Francisco Creates ‘Street’ Public Health Team To Offer Medication Assisted Treatment
On May 17, 2018, the Mayor of San Francisco announced that $6 million will be invested in a public health team to seek out opioid users and offer them buprenorphine, a form of medication assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid addiction. The city Department of Public Health intends to add 10 new clinical professionals to its Street Medicine Team, which provides outreach and treatment directly to people on the streets.
