Remote Patient Monitoring Linked To 44% Drop In Hospital Admissions & 72% Drop In Hospital Charges

Among people with heart failure participating in a remote patient monitoring program for six months, the average number of hospital admissions decreased by 44%, and the average hospital charges for those who were admitted dropped by 72%. In the six months before starting the program, the group averaged 3.0 admissions, and after using the remote monitoring system for six months, hospital admissions averaged 1.7. The average days hospitalized decreased by 64%, from 13.2 days to 4.8. Average total hospital charges dropped from $129,480 to $36,914.
