Pennsylvania To Create Department Of Health & Human Services, Consolidating Four Departments
On January 30, 2017, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf announced plans to combine four existing state departments to create a Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The plans were presented in the Governor's 2017-2018 budget. If approved by the legislature, the HHS will combine Pennsylvania’s Departments of Aging (PDA), Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP), Health (DOH), and Human Services (DHS). The goal is to promote better collaboration and service delivery, enhance the effectiveness of current programs, and eliminate duplication. The consolidation of these four existing departments and the official launch of HHS are scheduled to take effect . . .
