Partnerships Between Area Agencies On Aging & Mental Health Provider Organizations Associated With Lower Nursing Home Use
Formal partnerships between Area Agencies on Aging (AAAs) and mental health provider organizations were associated with a reduction of 0.5 percentage points in potentially avoidable nursing home use during the next year. Between 2008 and 2013, the number of AAAs that partnered with mental health provider organizations rose. The researchers proposed that such partnerships may indicate more infrastructure for coordinated, community-based care to provide supportive living services to help people with mental health conditions live independently.
