Oregon Reports 33% Drop In ER Use Among Medicaid Expansion Population
Between January 1 and June 30, 2014, emergency room use dropped by 33% among Oregon’s newly enrolled Medicaid expansion population, compared to those who were enrolled in the Oregon Health Plan prior to January 1, 2014. Newly enrolled expansion population beneficiaries also had fewer avoidable emergency room visits than other members.
These findings were reported in “Oregon's Health System Transformation 2014 Mid-Year Performance Report” by the Oregon Health Authority (OHA).
