Oregon Governor Orders Independent Investigation Of Foster Care Fiscal & Contract Oversight
On November 4, 2015, Oregon Governor Kate Brown ordered an independent investigation of the Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS) fiscal oversight of its contracted foster care provider organizations. The investigation is due to revelations that since 2009 a DHS contractor, Give Us This Day, had diverted or wasted nearly $2 million in state foster care funds, and that DHS officials had been aware of problems with the provider organization for more than a year before taking action.
